The Charge Bypass Switch is located on the Hybrid Module Output Panel, and is used to recharge the on-board batteries in the event that they have been allowed to drop too low for safe flight takeoff and operation. For the Charge Bypass Switch to take action, the On/Off Key has to be inserted (system turned on), and the engine has to be running. To activate the Charge Bypass function with the switch, flip it in the upwards direction. The system will automatically charge the batteries and indicate the charge status with the Status LED
The Status LED on the Hybrid Module Output Panel indicates the current status of the Hybrid Module. The descriptions of the LED patterns are given below.
SOLID
All systems are normal and ready to go. Note that this does not take into account the system voltage level, which has to be checked using the GCS connection. The LED will still be solidly lit, even if the system voltage level is below 49V.
BLINKING SLOWLY
This pattern only happens when the Charge Bypass Switch is activated and the system is actively charging the batteries. When the Charge Bypass Switch is activated, once the batteries are adequately charged, the LED will return to the SOLID state.
BLINKING QUICKLY
Indicates that there is an active error or warning in the system (such as a temperature or current problem, or a sensor failure). The Hybrid Module should be connected to the X55 and powered on, in addition to having the GCS connected, in order to see what the active error/warning message is.
The starter for the Hybrid Module consists of an electric drill and a one-way bearing (Roto-Start Bit). These are included with the system. Simply install the one-way bearing into the drill and make sure it is tightened down. Make sure the drill is always run with the fastest setting and in the counter-clockwise (CCW) direction.
The fuel mixing container is included in the package, and its use is described in the Setup and Operation section of this manual.
The Hybrid Module manufacturer serial number is located on the firewall, close to the engine.
