Filling the Hybrid Module Fuel Tank

Follow these steps to safely fill up the Hybrid Module fuel tank. These steps can be done with the Hybrid Module by itself, or while it is already mounted on the X55 airframe, before or after the setup of the system.

  • Make sure the Hybrid Module is sitting on a level surface and that there are no apparent leaks or issues with the fuel line connections.

  • Make sure you are not working around heat or an open flame, or any sort of device that could cause a spark.

Never perform fueling operations in the vicinity of open flames, heat, or electrical power sources that could cause a spark capable of igniting fuel.

  • Remove the cap from the tank.

  • Insert the funnel into the opening of the fuel tank.

  • Remove the oil chamber cap from the mixing container.

  • Remove the cap from the main opening of the mixing container and replace the spout, making sure to tighten it fully so that the seal is functional.

  • Hold the filler spout and position it within the funnel opening, while slowly tilting the mixing container to allow fuel to enter the tank.

Do not tilt the mixing container too rapidly because the fuel flow may become fast and erratic, causing splashing and spilling of fuel. Clean up any fuel spills immediately with an absorbent material to prevent further risk or damage.

  • Slowly fill the tank up to the desired level.

  • Replace the caps on the mixing container.

  • Remove the funnel from the fuel tank and replace the cap, tightening securely.

It is recommended to only fill the fuel tank to a maximum level of about 90%, since if the tank is extremely full, there is a chance that some fuel can leak out of the vent line if the Hybrid Module is moved at certain angles.
